I’m Josiah Parkhurst
I’ve been interested in game development for some time. Actually, it’s been since I was around eight or nine years old when I first got my hands on my brother’s copy of Game Maker 8.
For the past nine or so years, I’ve been working with Unreal Engine to make games solo and on small teams.
I have been lucky enough to have lots of time to experience almost every role in game development, and even use Unreal for film VFX!
I love making games, and I love watching people play the games I make. To me, seeing someone smile or deeply feel something because of the media that I make is the largest blessing that can ever come from anything I model, program, or design.

A game about Thoughts by Josiah Parkhurst

OTHERS: Devlog 1
As simple as it gets, OTHERS is a retro story game about choices and the voices in your head. As you play through the looping storyline, you unlock new voices, new thoughts, and new endings which lead you to uncover a sinister plot that may lead to your untimely demise… or you could just ignore it, I suppose.
If you want a general idea of the game and what it’s about, this early devlog will be enough to get you started!

Lots and Lots of Choices
One of the hardest parts about making a game with loads of choices, is keeping track of them all!
So far, my favorite way to block out the story and its choices, has been to use FigJam to diagram it, and then my custom story editor that I built inside Unreal Engine, to quickly expand upon the simple diagrams here.
